in case you haven't noticed, negativity toward bob is running rampant all over the board. you gotta start someplace. what are you doing to end it?

do you shoot wolves out of helicons like sarah palin?

Well, I've skimmed through the forum and, to tell you the truth, I haven't noticed any exaggerated negativity. Seems to be mostly set list discussions. But I do admit I might have missed things. Care to share any examples?

i hope this place doesnt desend into the tom . type insults we saw on another board, like bob's got a big nose. ok, so he has, but that is no reason to keep mentioning it, and it is irrelevant anyway.

hehe.

First Charlie, thanks for finally posting the 4 pillars again. I didn't know they could change! I'd like to see a running list if possible.

Great photos posted by Rev. Mike and Warren btw

Sandwiches for everyone!

this: - I just d'loaded four songs, thanks to a poster at The 'tower. "Dignity," imo, is an arrangement that didn't/won't work.

- Half way through "Sugar Baby," I stopped listening to it.

- "Chimes" was average, at best. I nearly nodded off.

and this: after listening to the whole show it sounds like a very mediocre one.

and this: but, that dignity is absolutely terrible in every single way possible. the band are embarassing, the arrangement is insipid, dylan's vocal is up his own arse and worse than all that, if proof was ever needed that some people are deluded and would cheer if bob took a shit on the stage, it's this performance.

and this:
This arrangement takes one of Bob's most fascinating lyrics and manages to make it sound like a nursery rhyme. The organ sounds like a circus calliope ... I don't want him to stop trying new things, but this is bizarre.

and this: this is quite poor

and this: deleting this torrent right now

and this: to my ears the band are only half decent on the faster numbers. if it ain't a blues-shuffle-rock thing, they don't cut the mustard, in fact some of the performances sound like a group of pissheads messing about in a garage, forming a cover band.
in the grand scheme of things, it's poor.
on a par with....
feb 1991, varied setlists but poor.
summer 2003 with dead, uninspired drivel.
2004-08, shite band, coasting along.

and this: he long ago stopped being an artist of real merit, i fail to see how anyone can even consider that his quality control gland is still intact. he's now a nostalgia act, a novelty.

this: mobile, mobile when will that warhorse get a rest?

this:
I can't remember the last time he did a good version of Shooting Star but it is always nice to hear it if you're there, I guess.

later on we'll determine what the best soda is and everyone will drink it forever and forever, making all other sodas obsolete.

you don't think those are negative comments? i happpen to think bob deserves better than that for all he does. i am not arguing taste and the right to like what one wants to. i am arguing whether negativity was expressed in unusal amounts on the board. you are confusing the issue.

but, hey. for bob's sake let's let it go. let's let bob just be

Ah, thank you Gilburt. I now see what you mean. In my opinion though, all of those comments, with two exceptions, are perfectly valid opinions. They're not "seeding negativity", the individuals are merely saying that they didn't like this or that performance. Which is fine with me, as not all of his performances are great.

As for the other two comments, they're simply on the opposite side of the spectrum from "Ah, Hannover was absolutely brilliant, his best show ever!" or "I think Modern Times is a musical masterpiece on par with Mozart or Revolver!" and the sort.

If you ban people for comments like the ones you have posted, you will end up with no discussion whatsoever and that would be a real shame.

I'd go with Sprite. Alas, I can't drink it anymore. My life is sadder because of that.

i agree with your last point wholeheartedly. yet these comments whether valid or not are still negative. that's the point. no one should be banned for voicing an opinion as long as they don't attack or insult someone.
