Hi---- Here's a funny thing I read earlier today written by the late great David Foster Wallace. It is part of an essay (so-called) called "Twenty-Four Word Notes".
The guy is confusing me already....
Anyway, IN the essay he chooses the word "THAT" as a word that is sometimes misused. He is being grammatical I suppose.
The JOKE is comin' soon, Baby!!!
His premise is that people sometimes use "WHICH" in place of "THAT" in a sentence.
Okay here comes the weird joke...[ It's in a footnote, believe it or not ] ------>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
" It so happens that you can occupy a bright child ........ by challenging her to use "THAT" five times in a row in a single coherent sentence. the solution is --->>>>> " He said that that 'THAT' that that writer used should have really been a 'WHICH'"-----
darn it i still cant make this work!!!! FAREWELL AGAIN UNTIL WORK CAN BE MADE
This is so cute and clever... There is a sixth way he mentions but i---- Here's a funny thing I read earlier today written by the late great David Foster Wallace. It is part of an essay (so-called) called "Twenty-Four Word Notes".

This is so cute and clever... There is a sixth way he mentions but LOOK HIM UP AND/OR work it out yourself... I know you can! Love you!
P.S.---- Gotta mention that when I first read something by him I can't remember what... I thought "Oh my God this guy is wonderful'"" and then I found out he had recently killed himself. So-- A negative all around. haha
To anyone interested in DFW as some call him.... I think "Consider the Lobster" is a good "
essay" book to look into.
TMI I BET!!!!! The cool "THAT" joke is all WHICH matters, right?
