I admit I haven't read all of the posts in the "dignity thread" but, as far as i read, i haven't seen anything offensive.
My personal point of view is:
- I suppose that here anybody (any registerd user, i mean) has the right to post a comment.
- It is obvious that nobody has the right to be unpolite while answer to someone or write a new post.
- I believe that anybody has the right to have their own tastes, so anybody can like/dislike something.
- this is a pool site, it's about Dylan shows but it doesn't mean you have to love Dylan (i do, but someone may be here just because of the pooling thing).
If i'm wrong about this common pillars let me know, i may be in the wrong place...
Having said that i'm pretty sure that a musician (i'm not one) has a different ability to understand other musicians' work; while simple music lover/listeners (as i consider myself) can't get everything is in a particular performance. I mean: rarely a non-musician would love modern jazz, because it involve that you know music very well to get into it [am i wrong?!].
As a simple listener i believe that rarely i will understand the point of view of a musician, and i don't pretend to.
At the same time i'm also sure that, if i don't like a song, hardly i will just because the players has done something innovative or impressive (from a thecnical point of view).
So, Charlie, if someone has been unpolite to you i'm completely with you (but "...do unto others like you'd have them, do unto you"
In the while if someone believe that that Dignity is not that good it's just their problem, moreover if they aren't professional musician.
Surely they (we) are missing something, but why should you be bothered?
Take it easy and enjoy the music at your higher level!
