Hey unknowns. Both nights, lights went down at 8 sharp. Both nights Bob thanked the audience three - four times, above and beyond introducing the band. Bob and band dressed all in black, both nights. It appears to me that he loves singing these songs from RARW's. I was in row 10 on saturday. His vocals were a little buried in the mix. I really had to pay attention to his words to get it. His piano was nice and loud. Here's the thing with THIS band. They really give him alot of space. during vocal verses they really back off. His piano playing was really fun. Whether he was just banging a single staccato note or embellishing a run after a vocal. Is he not the magical wizard of arrangements? To hear 'Masterpeice' arranged with 'Puttin on the ritz' actually works....works well! The surprise song was great. Walking by myself, both nights. He nails it. Night 2 he left out serve somebody. Last night i was in the second row, off to stage left a tad. i had a perfect view of Bob. The second night, the sound guys had it almost perfect. His inflections and cadence was incredible. All of those little nuances in his voice, that i love on the senior dylan albums were present. he took care with his phrasing. Highlights for me were, give myself to you, rubicon, walking by myself, version of you. Hearing a little harp on grain of sand. My thoughts are fleeting and running together. Both shows were magical, other worldly. Hard-pressed to think of anyone doing anything like this today. I love being on his magic swirling ship. lets me forget about today until tomorrow. |
