I was part of a half-hour panel discussion about Rough And Rowdy Ways on New Zealand's National Radio over the weekend, along with Nick Bollinger (NZ music expert and one helluva bass player) and Reb Fountain (fantastic alt-country singer/songwriter).

It's now on-line and you can listen to it HERE

I enjoyed the listen, Derek. Wasn't expecting "Reb" to be a female. Nice discussion.

          Thanks for posting.

Thanks Warren! It was a bunch of fun to do and of course Nick edited down from about an hour to make us all sound smarter... (and, yes, Reb is a woman, getting big props at the moment for her new album - she's very good!)

I'm always a bit wary of putting a selection of such amazing songs in a "favourties" order, but just to show how different two people's reactions can be, this is my "Top 10"

          1.key west
          2.my own version of you
          3.mother of muses
          4.murder most foul
          5.black rider
          6.crossing the rubicon
          7.i contain multitudes
8.i made up my mind to give myself to you
          9.false prophet
          10.goodbye jimmy reed

With the proviso that I really like ALL the songs!

Edited to say: This can't be right - I was just listening to Goodbye Jimmy Reed and it's fantastic. Ignore everything here.

Re:NEW ALBUM - the guitar parts! 3 Years, 10 Months ago
Some fascinating info in this great article in the Peter Stone Brown archives (Thanks Trev Gibb!).

It wasn't Bob, or even Benmont Tench playing that piano on Murder Most Foul, it was Alan Pasqua! And much of the guitar was Blake Mills, who - in what seems an unusual move for Dylan guitarists - has actually shared the guitar parts on Instagram. That's a first as far as I know.

          It's all HERE
