Happy weekend all,
I haven't posted here in a while, but felt the need to share a few thoughts after spending my afternoon watching The Brutalist...
1) Adrian Brody is top 3-5 actors of his generation. Since DDL officially "retired", Adrian may be top 1-3 actors of his generation.
2) When I first started hearing about 'The Brutalist', I just thought "shit, there's no chance for Timmy if what I'm hearing about 'The Brutalist' is true!"
3) Don't believe the hype. 'The Brutalist', IMHO, is one of the most disappointing hyped movies that I can recall in recent memory. Think 'The English Patient' a la Elaine Benes (Seinfeld reference). Its too ambitious, it has Part 1, Part 2,.. and a completely unnecessary "Epilogue".
4) Is Adrian good? yes, of course he is. But if you give true evaluation, it's not even close to what Timothee Chalamet pulls off. People say "well they are very different characters/roles"! Sure, but for my $, TC's performance (both acting and live performing), stands alone.
4)) Guy Pearce deserves the supporting actor Oscar, not even a question. I love Ed Norton as PS, but man, Guy is phenomenal.
Happy watching!
