I went to watch and listen to Dylan's concert in Berlin at the beginning of the autumn vacation on Sat 12.9.24.
Dylan's voice is not in good shape, but when everyone in the combo has been playing this style of music for at least half a century, it's true that there will be a wild routine with which to push forward.
Special mention must be made of the "new" touring drummer Jim Keltner, who replaced the "retired (?)" George Receli. You can't talk about any rejuvenation surgery when Keltner is 82 years old... but what a skill! For example, Dylan's classic song "Desolation Row" got completely new dimensions. Many times I stopped to listen to the small emphasis and ideas he played. The drums became a new element in addition to just the rhythm |
